Wayne has been searching the web for us and has come up some interesting links.

The not so good movie of the game is not showing one of us playing!

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x51dhk_links-386-pro-gameplay_videogames

But the intro we use to see when playing the game with CD in the drive to get the fly bys when we were all sitting in fron of our trusty 386 machines! Is a sight to warm the heart. I must get some of the disks down and run them again - it is a long time since I played a fly by - I need to see if i can get one to work via Dosbox - otherwise it will be to my old machine and boot the system with my DOS boot disk!

http://www.archive.org/details/006344

Thanks Wayne - great finds!

Hi all.

If one visits the forum (you can log-in with the passwords I have sent out) You will be able to make your own entries - I have also made it possible for us all to add our own graphic uploads so if anyone has pictures that they feel are worth a share - go for it.

I started a couple of idea threads - I am still pondering this and that - working my way through all the administrative tricks of this CMS is a task. Fortunatley when all else fails there is the get-out-of-jail card. I simply call for my son and things are solved before my eyes.

Moving to a CMS (Content Management System) allows new avenues to be explored. There is this ‘blog’ section where I can muse of the glory of Links386/Linkspro which after some 11 years since other golf games became available is testament to an addiction, or faith.

Throughout these years the interaction between players has been perhaps been mediated through myself or Alan (in the days of the Dolinks and Regular Tours). With a “forum” here players can add thoughts, comments, anything (within reason) and this might give an extra dimension to the habit of over a decade.

The presence of activity might even atteract the attention of more of the Linksters set adrift by “no more courses on the platform” and the wiles of Microsoft’s Operating System changes.

I recall fondly sitting in front of my XT; the 1980s were well underway. There was not a lot one could do with the two floppy drives - games came on nice bendy 5.25 inch disks. I moved on, the 286 was a bold step. I found betwixt Digger and Sokoban games…. Golf’s Best. That started a passion - “close, but no cigar” was an oft read comment on the bottom of the screen.

Things started shifting into gear with the first Access golf game I got. Links- Torrey Pines, Troon North, Barton and Bay Hill were my first four courses. It was not long before Firestone, Dorado Beach and Bountiful made up the full set.

I went to the computer shop and there on the screen was Harbour Town! Out went the the 286 - the 386 machine and Links386 came home. (early 1993)

Linkspro (is just 386 with a different front screen)

The first muse:
